Prague Presentation of Middle East Conflict Resolution

Prague, Czech Republic - Amendments to the Geneva Initiative will be presented to the public for the first time ever on Wednesday, 2 September 2009, at 5.00 pm in the Savoy Hotel in Prague (Keplerova 6, Prague) under the auspice of the Forum 2000 Foundation.

The Geneva Initiative and its origin dates back to December 2003 when a group of Israeli and Palestinian experts and leading figures met to draft a resolution to the Middle East conflict that would result in creating two independent states: Israel and Palestine.

Although the last five years have turned hostile to the peace process and the parties to the conflict lack sufficient political will, the surveys show that the Geneva Initiative is supported by almost a half of people living in Israel and in the Palestinian territories. Most experts believe that when the agreement is reached it will be close to the Geneva Initiative.

Completed in summer 2009, the amendments to the Geneva Initiative present a practical and comprehensive approach to the controversial issues such as the state boundaries, Jerusalem and water resources, turning the Geneva Initiative into a complex resolution to the conflict for both parties. The amendments will be presented in Prague by two Geneva Initiative representatives, Gadi Baltiansky of Israel and Nidal Foqaha of Palestine.

The presentation will see a number of Israeli and Palestine experts and international community representatives, such as a former member of the National Security Council of Israel, Israela Oron, a political adviser to the Office of the UN Special Coordinator For the Middle East Peace Process, Robert Dann.
